[Article Publication] A paper on the Ryugu asteroid particle involving Associate Prof. Miyahara, JAMSTEC/Kochi Core Senior Scientist Tomioka (Visiting Prof. at Hiroshima University), and Prof. Yabuta was published in Meteoritics & Planetary Science.
This paper reports the detailed petrographic characteristics and constituent minerals of Ryugu fine grains (Published paper url). The Ryugu grains are mainly composed of Mg-rich saponite, -serpentine magnetite, pyrrhotite, pentlandite, dolomite, and Fe-bearing magnesite, which are similar to the mineral species of CI chondrites. On the other hand, many mineral species not commonly found in CI chondrites were also found in the Ryugu grains.
